Your personalized order
Each Lumi Stories book is made for the child and story in your approved project. Before you pay, please check the character, the story preview, the opening-page message, the delivery country, and the cart.
Payment is handled by Stripe, which also collects your delivery address. Lumi keeps the delivery address, Stripe’s payment references, and your order status. Lumi never receives your full card details.
About the illustrations
Your child’s character and the pages of the book are illustrations made with AI image tools from the photo you upload and the details you choose. The character is an illustrated likeness, not a photograph, and it will not match your child exactly. You approve the character and see preview pages of the book before you pay.
Which AI service providers are involved, and what they receive, is explained in Privacy for families under “How we use AI service providers”.
Payment and the two-hour cancellation period
When you pay, your card is authorized for the order total but not yet charged. Your card is charged automatically about 2 hours later, when the two-hour cancellation period ends.
You can cancel free of charge before then from the order’s page in My Books. Cancelling releases the authorization, so no payment is taken. A cancellation covers the whole checkout, including every book paid for together.
Lumi does not start making the full book during those two hours.
After the two hours, the order can no longer be cancelled from My Books. If you change your mind, email us straight away: if Lumi can still stop the order before it is committed to printing, we will cancel it and refund what you paid, but we cannot promise this. Once an order has been submitted for printing, it cannot be cancelled for a change of mind.
Personalized products, returns, and consumer rights
Because each book is personalized, Lumi does not accept change-of-mind returns. When a book qualifies for a remedy under “Problems with an order”, you never need to send it back.
Nothing in these terms excludes, limits, or replaces mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live.
Problems with an order
Please tell us about a problem within 30 days after delivery so Lumi can look into it promptly. This reporting window does not limit your legal rights.
If you received the wrong book or the wrong child’s book, a Lumi personalization or production error makes the book materially different from what you approved, the book has a material print defect or transit damage, or the carrier confirms the parcel was lost, you can choose a priority free reprint or a full refund of what you paid, including shipping.
- Defect, transit damage, or wrong book: your order number and two or three clear photos.
- Lost delivery: your order number, tracking, and confirmation of the delivery address. No photo is needed.
- Personalization error: Lumi compares your order, the approved preview, and the delivered book. The original child photo is never used as dispute evidence.
Refund timing
After a refund is approved, Lumi starts it promptly—usually the same or next business day—to your original payment method, in the currency you paid. Banks and card issuers commonly take approximately 5–10 business days to show it, which is outside Lumi’s control.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your province, territory, or state.
Changes to these terms
Lumi may update these terms. The version published when you placed your order applies to that order.
