Required confirmation

Before uploading, you must separately confirm: “I am 18 or older, and I have the parent or legal guardian’s permission to submit this child’s photo so Lumi Stories can create the personalized book.”

This confirmation is separate from checkout Terms. Lumi does not require an identity-document upload as part of this confirmation.

How the photo is used

The photo is used only to create your child’s illustrated character. Lumi stores it privately, an AI service reads it to describe visible features such as hair, eye colour, and skin tone, and an AI image service creates the character from it. A member of the Lumi team may look at it if a character needs help. It is not used for marketing, model training, portfolios, or unrelated reuse.

The AI service providers that receive the photo, and what they may keep, are described in Privacy for families under “How we use AI service providers”.

Deletion after approval

The original photo is deleted immediately after you approve the character. Lumi records the deletion result. If you do not approve a character, the photo is deleted within about two days of upload. Later story generation uses the approved character sheet rather than the original photo.

AI service providers that processed the photo may keep their own temporary copies under their own terms. Lumi does not control those copies.

What the permission record keeps

The permission record keeps the permission version, account, project, upload reference, confirmation timestamp, and the exact statement you confirmed. It does not keep the photo itself.
